no 32gb of ram for gaming isnt necessary at all however 4 is not enough lol. Id recommend 16 for anyone these days its cheap enough. I have 32gig of ram but I do run a lot of VMs. really though you can never have too much RAM the more you have the less swapping occurs thus increase performance.. noticeable probably not but why not.

4gb will get the job done, 8 is enough, 16 is overkill imo, 32 and above is for video editing

<-----my specs, not so impressive i know, the best i could do with a budget and it runs most games properly + 120gb ssd and 1tb hdd

thats cool too, i was talking about gaming, you dont need more than 8 gb but if you got some extra money more doesnt hurt, but lets say on a budget build like mine where i got 6 gb, even with only 6 gb i have never had problems

Many of those who have 32Gb RAM probably use that for things like image and video editing, virtual machines etc. I can't imagine a scenario when that would be useful in a gaming machine...

Oh, and @A Shafted Ninja: OVERCLOCK YOUR CPU MAN! 780Ti SLI will otherwise bottleneck your system and limit performance :)

Nowadays you don't even really need 32gb for video editing, just motion graphics and 6k Photoshop workflows.

Case: Corsair C70
Cpu: 5960x @ 4.3 ghz
Cooler: h100i
Ram: 16gb ddr4
Mobo: asrock Extreme4 x99
Gpu: Asus 980
Admittedly I completely forget my psu, sorry. It should be in my profile

Keyboard: corsair k70
Mouse: razed deathadder
