Depends on your computer spec's. Internet speed is a huge factor when playing MP games if you are lagging badly.

You can start by turning down all the graphics settings for the game you are trying to play. Game might look like shit, but it should run faster for you.

Yeah you need to determine if its network lag or just poor game performance

Like firemonkey said, make sure the graphics are turned down and ya it might not look the best but that will help. Another option I would try is make sure every other device is off the wireless(if you have it). As they say, 1 thing on the wireless reduces your speed by half for the next device!

Try pinging your latency for a website or server and post your latency in ms on here to compare with other people's. That will tell you if your internet is playing a factor in your lagging.

Lag can be interpreted as a couple of things.

1) Being fps(frames per second) lagg

2) Being internet lagg and response time

Define which one you are experiencing, and this makes a solution much easier to reach.

If you do not mind posting your system specifications here, I can begin fixing the problem; or at least identifying a solution.

You can just post your CPU, the amount of RAM you have, and your graphics card if you have one.

You can Also try Razer Game Booster to help bring your FPS up

I actually works pretty well

  1. Check internet speed and ping
  2. Lower game graphics AND resolution as much as possible
  3. Close all unnecessary programs (like web browsers, Skype, etc.)
  4. Defrag hard drive
  5. Uninstall unnecessary programs
  6. Clean registry
  7. Turn off and unplug computer, then open up and clean out dust
  8. Download and install latest graphics drivers
  9. Download less-detailed custom textures for the game (works on some games)
  10. Make sure you have enough RAM, you need at least 4 gigabytes for a gaming PC

Now ShockBlaze, that would help if the frames/second are horribru,  but in this case it's lag. Lag has to do with your internet, not with the frames/second. If that is the problem, he asked the wrong question. If your problem is screenlag, then your tips would help (especially the unnecassary program stuff).

Of course it would. But he specifically said "how to pc make games run faster", which can mean online or offline. He didn't mention a specific game either. Some people use lag as a general term for slow, choppy gameplay.

You guys told him how to fix his internet problem already, so I figured I'd skip to the other possible problem....
